John Brookfield is internationally known in the world of strength and conditioning as both a coach and competitor.  He is a multiple world record holder and author. He holds records in the “Guinness Book of World Records” as well as “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not”.  His books include Mastery of Hand Strength, The Grip Master’s Manual and Training With Cables For Strength.

John spent over a year developing the Battling Ropes System® strictly for himself. He was using this advanced training system to skyrocket his strength and stamina to new heights.

After using the Battling Ropes® for his own personal goals, John decided to show the basics to a few of his friends. They thought that this system was simply the best due to the incredible results that the system produces.  Now John is known for the Battling Ropes® training system which is currently being used by countless athletes from NFL teams, Olympic athletes, MMA stars, elite military units and anyone who is trying to get in the best shape of their lives. The Battling Ropes is completely unique and unlike any other training method due to the fact that the athlete is forced to be physically and mentally engaged at all times. This is due to the fact that the user is forced to use velocity and non-momentum training instead of relying on momentum, leverage and gravity. With the Battling Ropes® training there is no lull in the action and the result gives the athlete the ability to train or compete at a much higher rate of intensity for longer durations of time. The system is also very progressive.  There are seven different concepts to the system and seven different levels of progression.

Here’s a short list of a few of John Brookfield’s accomplishments. Be sure to scroll down to see some of John’s feats of strength caught on video & TV!

#1 – John pulled a truck weighing 24,000 pounds a distance of one full mile in one hour and 23 minutes. The mile pull was done without the use of any pulling ropes.

#2 – Just recently, John rolled up one-quarter mile of steel non-stop in 59 minutes. The world record was done by using 62 twenty-foot steel bars, which were 9/16″ in diameter. Each bar was laying on the ground and had to be rolled up so tight that they fit into a small suitcase.

#3 – John Brookfield and Jon Bruney pulled a semi-truck weighing slightly over 32,000 pounds a distance of one full mile in one hour and thirty-six minutes. Much of the route had an upgrade.

#4 – John tore 100 decks of plastic-coated poker cards in half in two minutes and fifteen seconds.

#5 – John tore 60 decks of plastic-coated poker cards in half in one minute exactly.

#6 – John performed 1,200 kettlebell snatches in one hour exactly using a 53-pound kettlebell.

#7 – John performed 302 kettlebell snatches in ten minutes using a 53-pound kettlebell.

#8 – John bent 520 nails into a U-shape in one hour and forty-two minutes. The nails were 60-penny nails.

#9 – John rolled up a 20-foot, 5/8″ steel bar in 33 seconds so tight it could be placed in an average-sized suitcase.

#10 – John used a 50-pound sledgehammer for one full hour and struck a tire about thirty times a minute non-stop throughout the hour.

Hello,

I just ordered two sets of the 16.5 ft partnering ropes. I ordered these, not because of cost, but due to space constraints. I am running a Functional Bootcamp and I really wanted to add this element to their training.

I tried it last night with two participants and they had difficulty maintaining velocity, and their grip strength was not yet developed so they kept dropping the ropes. I ordered your partnering DVD as well. I want any advice you can give me on how to work with partnering ropes when you are dealing with varying fitness levels.

Thanks so much for your time and consideration,

Richard Lehman

Hi John,

I’m Ingrid Marcums friend from Chicago – Jacqui Polz. I attended the battling ropes cert that you and Ingrid did in Chicago I believe last year. Can you tell me the dates and times when that certification was offered. I don’t remember. Thanks so much.
