Anchoring the Battling Rope®

by Coach Bruce Pahl on July 15, 2010

You don’t need a ton of room to train with the Battling Ropes®. Wrapping or anchoring your rope cuts the space needed in half. With the 50 ft. rope all you really need is about 25 or 30 ft. I explain more on this here:

I have a questions regarding anchoring systems for battling ropes – Can you use a large eye screwed into the floor or wall? And, I have limited space 17 1/2 wide area – Will 30′ ft ropes provide a workout? I train at a local YMCA & would like to introduce this system to my TRX & kettlebell students. Your time and response would be very much appreciated!
Thank you -

Hello Patricia,

Yes you can use a large eye screw if you can find one large enough to fit the rope through. very soon I will be selling an anchor strap that you can use to wrap around the rope and then attach to the smaller eye hooks.

Regarding a 30 ft rope. I don’t feel that a 1.5″ 30 ft. rope is long enough to be progressive so I recommend a 40-50 ft rope. If you don’t have the necessary length (space) then I would go with a 30ft. 2″ rope.
